New World
For Activists Everywhere
(inspired by the Battle of Seattle in December 1999)

Into air my words are lifting
Bursting like a sun
Shattered dreams are now persisting
No longer on the run

Cries of loss and longing
Rising from my core
My voice no longer halting
As wolves wait at the door

Continents begin shifting
Underneath our feet
Steadily we are resisting
Despite our past defeats

The islands they have been poisoning
Await the cleansing sea
Beyond the power of their destroying
Is our ancient memory

Chorus
In this new world order time
We take the time to breathe . . . to think . . .
To walk . . . to talk (to talk to talk to talk)
In this new world we’re ordered no more

Steady waves of people gathering
Circling ’round the guns
The droning rats begin scattering
In silent rage they’re stunned
Into air our words are lifting
Bursting like a sun
No force can stop the growing resistance
Now they’re on the run

Chorus
In this new world order time
We take the time to breathe . . . to think . . . to walk . . .
To talk . . . to sing . . . to dream . . .
In this new world we’re ordered no more

Cries of loss and longing
Rising through the haze
Emerging from the dark mourning
We’re in a sacred space

"New World" is my favorite song on the CD. It has great words and a great 'deep-gut' rhythm and tune. I just love the guitar work and your voice on that song is amazing... as well as the use of the 'synth' for that beautiful background flow. All and all, the song is a haunting, ominous and wonderful statement... very effective and very cool. I think  it is as good and as strong in its own right as "People Have the Power!"
