Celebrating Elizabeth Cady Stanton's 200th Birthday

On November 12, 2015 women came from far and near to gather in The Great Hall of Cooper  Union in New York City to celebrate the 200th Birthday of Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Stanton, along with Susan B. Anthony and many other courageous women, led a 72-year-struggle for women's suffrage culminating in the 19th Amendment to the Constitution on August 26, 1920. Performances and readings by women from all walks of life included music by Sweet Honey in the Rock. The event also featured special video presentations by Supreme  Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, journalist Rachel Maddow and Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was one of only a few women in the 19th century to join the ranks of famous orators like Abraham Lincoln who deliveedr a speech iin Cooper Union's Great Hall where the event took place.
