PAUL ROBESON

Tribute to Paul Robeson Through story, song, film and historical analysis, the students of Somerville Middle School participated in a 2 hour tribute to Paul Robeson who graduated from their school in the early part of the 20th century. He went on to world-wide acclaim as a great singer, actor, athlete, social and political activist and humanitarian. He was called "the tallest tree in the forest." Because of his strong socialist political views and activities he was attacked by the U.S. government. Despite being in great demand for performances around the world, his passport was confiscated and for many years Paul was prevented by his own government from earning a living. 97.3 KB
